Local information about Egypt

Climate

The climate in Egypt is exceptional and can be described in 2 words: hot and dry. The air is particularly dry and clean and it is only thanks to the Nile that we don't really find the Saharan climate. In winter the temperatures are mild and there is only the occasional night frost. A part from the months of January, February and March, which are sometimes quite cold in the North, the average temperatures range from 20° on the Mediterranean coast (max 31°) and 28° in Assouan (max 50°). In the desert the extremes become normal - a furnace during the day and a glacier during the night. Spring often brings the "khamsin", a hot, dry, dusty wind, blowing from the deserts of the South East.

Surface water temperature in the Red Sea remains relatively constant, between 21° and 27° C, which makes this one of the warmest oceans in the world. Diving is possible all year round with a preference for the months of July to October for cruises, due to the sea conditions and chances of pelagic fish encounters on the outer reefs.
