Maldives

Scattered Islands in a turquoise jewelry case

The archipelago of the Maldives, a republic situated in the Indian Ocean 650 kilometres south west of India, is made up of 1200 small islands connected by coral clusters and atolls. Scattered islands with dense vegetation provide us with beautiful lagoons and white sandy beaches. Marvelling at the beautiful decor, we truly have the impression of living in a postcard. The Maldivian people are united from vast and diverse origins, speaking an indo-European language called divehi.

The best formula for discovering the underwater marvels of this archipelago remain undeniably on a liveaboard cruise. It is therefore natural that we have chosen this option to offer you the best of the Maldives. With two different dive vessels exclusively chartered by ABYSS during the entire dry season we can propose you itineraries ranging from 7 to 13 nights, during which time you will be able to make between 15 and 25 dives.

Outside of our "special" cruises the diving itinerary and program of our "classic" cruises is established based on the desires of our divers, their previous dive experiences in the Maldives and of course weather conditions. Therefore we will travel and dive at the Atolls of North Malé, South Malé, Felidhu, Meemu, Vattaru, Baa and among other marvels of the Indian Ocean. Our special cruises, Grand South and Grand North take us to virgin dive sites at the 2 extremes of the archipelago using an ascending or descending formula.

In terms of the diving this region is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, with uncountable sites destined to thrill even the most demanding diver: abundant and varied fauna, drift dives between reefs, wrecks, and rich coral gardens. No style of diving is left out: grey sharks, tuna, barracuda, manta rays and eagle rays, napoleon fish, grouper and whale sharks, without forgetting the multitude of reef fish.
