Our itineraries in Papua Barat

The crew of the Aurora know the best areas to visit depending on the season and, more importantly, the best dive sites. 3 dives a day is the general rhythm with additional night dives being available most nights. The dive sites chosen will of course depend on the meteorological conditions.

Most days you will have the possibility to go ashore accompanied by some of the crew. Apart from a couple of places where some paths are accessible, most of the islands are impenetrable. Having said that, we discover some of the most idyllic beaches and lagoons, which gives you the chance for some beach time and a stretch of the legs.

Northern Itinerary: Rajah Empat. This cruise consists of stages in the region of Kri and surrounding reefs plus the Islands of Waigeo, Fam, Kawe, Wayag and Uranie.

Itinerary

Stage1 : Arrival in Jakarta (1 night)
Greetings at the airport by a Team Abyss representative in Jakarta. Organisation of the tickets for the flights from Jakarta to Sorong. Night at the Jakarta Airport Hotel.
Stage2 : Morning flight Jakarta - Sorong (1 night)
Greetings at Sorong and transfer to the Aurora. Boarding and briefings followed by departure in the middle of the afternoon.
Stage3 : Kri Island (1 night)
Arrival near Batabta, re-adaptation dive followed by a further 2 dives in the region of Kri. The site offers some of the best diving in Rajah Empat with the Manta Point included. Some of the mantas in this region are of the rare jet black variety. This region shows some of the diversity of this magnificent area.
Stage4 : Fam Islands (2 nights)
The Islets of Fam, much like Palau in Micronesia, enclose Rocky Island islands covered in vegetation, where we can discover magnificent lagoons full of multicolored parrots and orchids. The diving on the superb coral gardens of these reefs include Melissa's Garden, Barracuda Point or the drop offs of Awe, sculptured by erosion and covered in fabulous yellow soft corals.
Stage5 : Kawe Island (1 night)
Situated just below the equator, this island is surrounded by reefs rich in fish life.
Stage6 : Waiag, Uranie & Nothern Waigeo (3 nights)
Moving to the Northern area of Papua Barat we enter an area of several islets with idyllic beaches, rocky labyrinths, dreamy lagoons and tropical forests. The dive sites are as varied as they are numerous. This area is a festival of both multicolored hard and soft corals, sponges, giant gorgonian fans, schools of fish and carpet sharks.
Stage7 : Mansuar Island (1 night)
Arriving the morning at Mansuar we have the possibility to dive Sardine Reef, Cape Kri and Mike's point. These dives are probably the most rich in life in all of Rajah Empat. At the end of the day you will have a last opportunity to visit the Manta Boulevard.
Stage8 : Batanta Island (1 night)
During this stage we have the opportunity to see a lot of tropical birds around the edges of the beaches. Underwater it is not rare to see carpet sharks and pigmy sea horses. There is also the possibility to dive on a plane wreck of a P47 warplane dating from 1940.
Stage9 : Sorong (1 night)
Disembarkment from Shakti and flights back to Jakarta. Night at the Airport Hotel.
Stage10 : Jakarta (1 night)
Return flights from Jakarta to your departure point.
