Our itinerary in Siberia

An expedition out of the ordinary, this voyage was originally put together by Didier Noirot, who was the head photographer on the Calypso for 12 years. You will be accompanied by a Team Abyss Guide, who is there for the entire voyage to ensure the safety of the diving and the general logisitics of the trip. The Abyss guide will also be assisted by professional ice divers who have been diving in these waters for over 12 years.

Itinerary

Stage1 : Arrival in Irkutsk (1 night)
Arrival at Irkutsk, the capital of Siberia. Transfer from the airprot to the centre of the city and check in at the Angara Hotel. Visit of the city and some free time. The afternoon is taken up by preparing and trying diving equipment at the dive centre located near the Angara River. Lunch and dinner in town.
Stage2 : Departure for Lake Baikal (1 night)
Early morning departure in 4x4 vehicles for a 5 to 6 hour trip towards Lake Baikal. During the trip we also pass thru the snow filled forest area (Taiga). Lunch on the way. From the village of Litsvyanka we follow the river before crossing the Maloe More Straights by car (on the ice) before arriving at Olkhon. Once on site we settle in to the datcha.
Stage3 : Maloe More and Hoboi (4 nights)
During these 4 days, you will do one dive per day under the ice at sites located around Maloe More and Hoboi. During these amazing 4x4 expeditions on the ice to get to the sites, we often come across local fishermen, who at this time of the year drill through the ice to set their lines and nets. Every afternoon an expedition will be offered to you depending on the weather conditions. During the evening, you can relax in a famous Russian sauna, the Banya. The locals will not forget you are there and will of course want to sit down and drink a shot of Vodka with you. As you may know, it will be quite difficult to have only one... These are special moments with the local people and the opportunity to be told such stories as the legend of Angara.
Stage4 : Departure for Irkutsk (1 night)
Departure for Irkutsk by 4x4 vehicles. Evening arrival and check in at the Angara Hotel. A final evening awaits you in a typical restaurant in the heart of town.
Stage5 : Return (1 night)
Transfer to the airport for your outbound morning flight.
