Sardine Run

The Sardine Run is one of the most impressive marine migrations which can be seen by divers : millions of schooling sardines (some schools can reach up to the several kilometers ion length) swim along the East Coast of South Africa, followed by numerous predators : sharks, dolphins, sea lions, marine birds and whales take part in this amazing feeding frenzy.

World renowned through amazing wildlife documentaries, this phenomenon take place once a year, during a very short period (mid-June to mid-July). Abyssworld will take you to admire this exceptionnal "show" during a unique diving expedition to the Pondoland, near the Mbotyi river (a spot which offers the greatest opportunities to experience the Sardine Run).
